3 Reasons To Use Vertical Blinds Vs. Curtains On Your Sliding Glass Doors

If you have sliding glass doors in your home, you probably love the fact that they provide easy access to the outdoors. Of course, you probably want to make sure that your family has plenty of privacy despite these doors, though, so you could be thinking about putting up curtains or vertical blinds. Either option can work, but you might prefer vertical blinds for these reasons.

1. You Can Let Sunlight In

First of all, with curtains that are thick enough to provide you and your family with privacy, you aren't going to be able to let any sunlight in through the glass of your sliding glass doors. If you'd like to be able to let a little bit of sunlight in on nice days, then choosing vertical blinds will be the better choice. Then, you can either slide the vertical blinds along the track partially to allow an open view of the outdoors, or you can open up the slats to let some sunlight in. Then, when you want to block the sunlight or give your family privacy again, you can simply close the vertical blinds.

2. You Don't Have to Worry as Much About Fading

Another reason to consider vertical blinds instead of curtains is the fact that you don't have to worry as much about fading. Many vertical blinds come in white or other light colors, so fading from the sunlight shouldn't be too obvious, if it's obvious at all. Curtains that come in colors other than white might become permanently faded from being installed on your sliding glass doors for too long, though, so you do have to worry about this affecting their appearance and the amount of privacy that they provide.

3. You Can Wipe Them Down

Even though you can certainly use some type of curtain to provide privacy over your sliding glass doors, you might find that you like using vertical blinds instead. Luckily, there are different types of vertical blinds that you can choose from, and they come in different sizes that should accommodate the size of your sliding glass doors, too. If you would like to enjoy the benefits above, then you might just love the idea of having vertical blinds instead of curtains on your home's sliding glass doors.

Even though some people like having curtains on their sliding glass doors, you might prefer vertical blinds for the three reasons listed above.
